Characteristics: Large reddish compound eyes, thorax covered with yellow-gold hairs, bristly abdomen
Eggs: Laid in soil and vegetation, hatch in approximately a week
Larvae: Parasitise earthworms which are eventually killed
Pupae: in soil
Adults: 6mm, blackish, often 2 generations per year
